End-of-life Record Management Process
At DSM, we simplify end-of-life record management for our customers who store paper-based records with us through our secure online portal, DSM Link. Clients can efficiently manage their document inventory using our retention date management tool, ensuring records are flagged for destruction at the right time. Only authorised users can request shredding through the portal, maintaining strict access control for added security. By streamlining the process, DSM Link allows businesses to remain compliant with data protection regulations, reduce storage costs, and securely dispose of outdated documents with ease. This ensures that sensitive information is destroyed responsibly while maintaining full control over the entire lifecycle of their records. The End-of-life record process typically involves three steps:
Request & Authorisation:
Customers initiate a shredding request via DSM Link or phone, where only authorised users can proceed. DSM provides secure, locked bins for document collection. Once verified, a shred work order and pick list are generated for scheduled collection.

Secure Transportation & Verified Destruction:
Documents are securely transported to DSM’s facility or shredded on-site. Authorised shredding items are verified and destroyed using DIN Level 3 cross shredding, following EN15713 standards. The process is closely supervised by a DSM team member to ensure compliance.

Certification & Recycling:
After shredding, DSM issues a Certificate of Destruction for full regulatory compliance. Shredded materials are then recycled according to environmental policies, ensuring secure, eco-friendly disposal. The certificate is sent to the customer for their records and audit purposes.
